You Must be on the Distant Booker's Short Shortlist

It's all about making the hotel an easy choice for the potential booker.  So how will you do that?   Well new guests will be very much like the current guests - that's a marketing truth - more of the same is easy and different is very hard.  So you'll need to understand the reasons why guests stay in the locality - then persuade them to choose you.  There are three parts.  Knowing who they are.   That your hotel looks like the no-brainer choice for guests like yours.  And that you are doing enough to get on the first shortlist potential guests build before they choose.

The three small projects below will give you all the answers you need to be successful.  You can do as many as you think you need.

Who's Staying?

The Red Card Survey cards are  handed individually to guests and their two or three words will tell you what they did while staying.  No time really - just hand out the cards at breakfast service and collate the comments.

Buy the cards from me for £30.  Hand them out with pencils.

Bookers Shortlist?

Checklist 1. is about your position compared to 7 competitors.  What's the Bookers shortlist look like from a distance and without local knowledge?

It's at least a 60 minute job to complete this checklist.  But it will establish the facts - the Distant Booker's shortlist - and who's on it.

My name is Chris Downing.  I'm BT's retired Killer Apps Manager.  I ran business internet workshops at BT for top FTSE 1000 directors.  More recently, doing analysis and fact finding for hoteliers.  I think you'll find the results from these small projects very effective in increasing revenues and margins.  The action lists they create are fast acting and and inexpensive to implement, or get in touch and I can help.

Website Selling?

This audit of your website will  alert you to any missing text, format, or pictures.  It also compares your site to three competitor hotels and draws up a comparison table for your action.   This is tuning, not rebuilding.

This is a 3 to 4 hour task to complete - the task I most often get asked to complete for hoteliers.
